Dwellings, Living Conditions and Diet in Western and Central Asia
from the Paleolithic to the Achaemenid Period
(Bern, 19-23 April 2022)
The University of Bern has the honour of hosting the first International Conference of ARWA. The local hosts will be the Swiss Society for Ancient Near Eastern Studies (www.sgoa.ch), the Institute for Archaeological Sciences (www.iaw.unibe.ch) and the Center for Global Studies (https://www.cgs.unibe.ch/index_eng.html) of the University of Bern.
The subject will be “Dwellings, Living Conditions and Diet in Western and Central Asia from the Paleolithic to the Achaemenid Period”. All papers are welcome, which deal either with the form and structure of houses or which take up the methodologies used to study the circumstances and conditions of life as well as diets.
The Swiss capital Bern, whose historical Old Town is listed UNESCO world heritage, is situated in the center of Europe and can easily be reached by train. The international airports of Zurich, Basel and Geneva are all directly connected by train with Bern within 1 h (Zurich, Basel) or 1:45 h (Geneva). The university’s main building is located immediately next to the train station.
