How to become a member (2023)?

ARWA welcomes anyone interested in the Archaeology of Western & Central Asia (WCA). With your membership, you join a diverse and vibrant community of researchers. You support the goals of ARWA, in establishing a worldwide community of scholars and the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about Archaeology through information platforms, workshops, conferences and online resources.

Members of ARWA may be individual adults only. With your membership, you subscribe to the values of ARWA and support the aims and activities of the Association.

A member is admitted to ARWA only after the dues for the current year are paid. After acceptance, the names of first-time applicants will be added to the list of members.

Free of charge membership (in 2023) is granted to nationals and foreign residents of the following countries:

Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrein, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, India, Iran, Iraq (including Kurdish regional government), Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

This charge exemption is also granted to colleagues and students nationals of WCA countries, who are in exile, refugees or stateless persons.

The administrative year of the Association coincides with the calendar year. Membership obtained at any time during a calendar year will be valid until the end of said year.

The 2023 membership dues are:

Professional: 40€
Post-Doc: 30€
PhD Student: 20€
MA Student: 10€

Payments to ARWA should be made by one of the following methods:

– SEPA bank transfer (Single Euro Payment Area). Best for members living in the EU and countries that use Euro and SEPA bank transfer. Members from other countries will be responsible for the transfer fee and conversion rate set by their financial institutions. Please clearly indicate your name in the reference field.
